Important News for Our New & Returning Officials

If you are receiving this email, you were a registered USA Hockey referee during the 2023-24 season.
As the 2024-25 season is now underway, I am writing with a few reminders and to offer encouragement to expeditiously complete your 2024/25 registration as quickly as possible.
First off, you have likely received a number of emails from USA Hockey outlining the changes in the registration process, along with new dates and deadlines to complete your registration and certification. You can find the registration portal at the following link:

The first important deadline to take note of is October 31. This is the absolute last day that you will be able to register as an official for the 2024/25 hockey season. If you have not registered with USA Hockey and paid the associated fee by this date, you will not be able to officiate this season.
The second date of note is December 1st. This is the day that your 2023/24 registration expires and you will no longer be eligible to work games.
And finally, December 31st. This is the last day you will be able to complete your certification requirements to officiate during the 2024/25 season.
As for those requirements, they are very easy for this season. You simply need to attend an appropriate online zoom seminar, and make sure your background check and safe sport status are current and up to date. That’s it, no rule test, skating test, modules, or anything else. Also, you can take the required zoom seminar hosted anywhere in the country. It does not have to be an Alaska specific seminar. So, once you sign up with USA Hockey, use the portal to find a suitable seminar for your level anywhere in the country and register to take it on a date and time that works for you.
We all know that Alaska suffers from a lack of officials and we can use all the help we can get. Statewide, we had roughly 400 officials registered last season. It would be great if we can meet and exceed that this season, which means, we need you.
